NARSC Member Benefits

The primary benefit of your association and membership with NARSC is that we are legally established Not For Profit Trade Association and Business League for the Retail Shipping Industry. As such, NARSC’s mission and focus is to act as your advocate.

Although other organizations may claim to be an advocate, the facts indicate that their business and revenue-related relationships prevent them from doing so due to the conflicts of interest. NARSC does not have such conflicts and, therefore, can act exclusively in the best interest of you, the store owner.

NARSC’s Board of Directors represents all segments of the industry, so we can provide a balanced and informed approach to the issues.

The benefits of membership in NARSC will grow rapidly over time, but the list now includes:

	•	DOT/PHMSA Hazardous Materials Awareness Training — provided at no charge and includes a certificate of attendance that meets all current DOT compliance recommendations. This will soon be offered in an online format to allow store owners and their staff to gain this increasingly important information and training.

	•	NARSCTALK — a Yahoo online discussion group that allows store owners to openly discussion industry issues, share knowledge and resources, and stay informed. Where other Yahoo groups are tightly controlled and monitored by the group owners to control the flow of information to suit their interests, NARSCTALK is unmoderated and open to everyone in the industry.

	•	The Right to Vote — NARSC members have a voice in the direction of the association by virtue of the one member, one vote structure. The Board of Directors serves the directives of the membership.

	•	Material Safety Data Sheet Resource — the need for store operators to vet packages for hazardous materials is increasing. Every product manufactured in the US is required to have a corresponding MSDS that defines if, and to what degree, it is hazardous.

	•	Local Chapters — NARSC supports local chapters organizations that provide you access to participate with store owners in your immediate vicinity to leverage group buying, advertising, and influence.
